About the event

AORA marks its first anniversary with the 'Future of Connectivity' conference!

Quezon City, July 6, 2023 - The Department of Science and Technology - Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) and the Asia Open RAN Academy will present the "future of connectivity" to mark AORA's first anniversary on July 20 and 21 at Novotel Manila in Quezon City.

The conference will serve as a platform to convene prominent players in the telecommunications industry and government agencies, facilitating discussions on the potential of Open RAN and Open Networks while highlighting the latest advancements in connectivity.

Speakers from USAID, the Philippine Government, and leading Open RAN advocates will engage in interactive sessions, sharing their insights and expertise on connectivity and exploring potential Open RAN solutions.

Dr. Franz de Leon, Director of DOST-ASTI, and Vincent Atienza, AORA Chairperson, will inaugurate an exhibit showcasing Open RAN and Open Networks. Dr. De Leon will provide an overview of AORA's achievements in the past year and discuss DOST-ASTI's plan to establish an Open Network Laboratory in the country.

The event will feature sessions dedicated to Open RAN, covering its significance, historical context, industry players, and standards.

Engaging in panel discussions will explore how Open RAN opportunities can address connectivity challenges in health, education, campus, community networks, disaster mitigation and management, and agriculture.

International presenters will showcase best practices in Open RAN implementation and demonstrate successful deployments and outcomes. Organizations, including the Telecom Infra Project (TIP), O-RAN Alliance, GSMA, and the Open RAN Policy Coalition, will also contribute their expertise during the sessions.

The conference will also unveil the AORA Roadmap, a strategic plan outlining future initiatives.

"The gathering promises to be an impactful and insightful event, fostering collaboration among industry leaders, policymakers, and experts in shaping the future of connectivity," said Atienza.

AORA is a collaborative platform dedicated to advancing the global adoption and deployment of Open RAN and Open Networks.

It brings together industry stakeholders, government organizations, and academic institutions to promote innovation, interoperability, and accessibility in the telecommunications industry.

The Asia Open RAN Academy is an activity Co-created with USAID funds as part of the Biden Administrations Indo Pacific Economic Framework.
